2024 UPCYCLING WITH PRESSED FLOWER ART
Share
Do you know about the upcycling project that uses discarded cosmetics to decorate the Japanese festival
"Aomori Nebuta"?
Cosmetics manufacturers generate a large amount of discarded cosmetics during the production process and after the shipping deadline.
In 2023, a project was launched to use these discarded cosmetics to color "Nebuta", where the rising cost of materials is becoming a problem.
This project is being carried out by Rika Tsukamoto, who works on Aomori Yamada's Nebuta, general producer Shinichi Yokono, and MANGATA Co., Ltd., which has been promoting the upcycling of multi-purpose color materials.
In 2024, a project was added to transform the Japanese paper used in the Nebuta Festival into a new art piece that combines it with natural pressed flowers.
As the creator of this pressed flower art, I take advantage of the transience and vitality of flowers and weave a new story into the Japanese paper that was part of the festival.
This upcycling initiative goes beyond simply reusing materials; it aims to express the history of nature and human activity as "beautiful sustainable art."
"Through pressed flower art, we can breathe new life into materials and take one step closer to a sustainable future."
We cherish this idea and hope that the appeal of "beautiful upcycled art" will reach many people.
